FAQ’s

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is the bringing together of your conscious and subconscious minds in a trance state. It is a natural state, which you will have experienced at least once already today without even realising. Hypnotic trance has been likened to ‘day dreaming.’ You can often hear what is being said to you whilst being in a deep state of relaxation.

Examples of experiencing a trance state include:

  • driving somewhere without any recollection of your journey
  • watching TV or reading a book and losing track of time
  • somebody chatting to you and being unable to recall what they have been talking to you about

Hypnosis is a state of focused attention. You are not asleep. You will simply feel deeply relaxed.

What happens during a hypnosis session?

During our sessions, I will guide you into a relaxed trance state where your subconscious mind is more responsive to positive suggestions, which can help you to change unhelpful negative patterns of thinking. Hypnosis is not mind control. Nor is it stage hypnosis. Contrary to popular belief, I cannot make you do things against your will. When you are in trance your subconscious mind can and will reject any suggestions that you do not wish to accept or that are not right for you.

I cannot hypnotise your problems away. You are always in the driving seat of your own therapy journey and any changes that you make can only come about because you wish to make them. My goal is to work together with you to find solutions.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

It involves a combination of psychotherapy, which allows me to explore solutions with you and relaxing hypnosis where you can focus on the positive aspects of your life. How many sessions will I need?

As the needs of clients will be different, the number of sessions required will vary. However, most clients will usually require between 8 to 12 sessions for general therapy. Many clients often see improvements after a few sessions. Phobias require 4 sessions and stopping smoking is one session which usually lasts up to 2 hours.

What can it help with?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, sleep issues, weight management, phobias, low mood and obsessive behaviours. See Treatments for more details.

Hypnotherapy is effective however success is not guaranteed. You will need to be fully committed and be willing to take part in the process. Listening to my relaxation track before you go to sleep at night between sessions is a vital element in the process. I will fully explain its importance in the initial consultation.

However, please see my Testimonials to find out how I have helped my clients to achieve the positive changes they wanted to make in their lives.

How much will it cost?
